Strasbourg a une identité mixte, Français et Allemand, tout comme nous Lehmanns - Strasbourg has a mixed identity: French & German just like us Lehmanns

We left Saint Germain early in the morning for the train station to Strasbourg. We're excited to see a new town & region of France.

Strasbourg is the location of the European Union

Having a German beer as we're nearly in Germany here

Mom really did drink a beer.... "When almost in Germany, do as the Germans do!"

Strasbourg is situated at the eastern border of France with Germany, This border is formed by the Rhine, which also forms the Eastern border of the modern city, facing across the river to the German town of Kehl. The historic core of Strasbourg however lies on the Grandé Île on the river Iii,which flows parallel to and roughly 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the Rhine. The natural courses of the 2 rivers eventually join some distance downstream of Strasbourg, although several artificial waterways no connect within the city.

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg
Although considerable parts of the Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg are still in Romanesque architecture, it is widely considered to be among the finest examples of high, or late Gothic architecture. At 142 metres (466 feet), it was the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874 (227 years), when it was surpassed bySt. Nikolai's Church in Hamburg, Germany. Today it is the sixth-tallest church in the world and the highest extant structure built entirely in the Middle Ages.
Described by Victor Hugo as a "gigantic and delicate marvel", and by Goethe as a "sublimely towering, wide-spreading tree of God", the cathedral is visible far across the plains of Alsace.

The height of the cathedral is truly impressive & it's 1004 years old!
